Research interests:

My research focuses on the analysis of sedimentary basins and their geodynamic contexts, as well as the deposition conditions and trends diagenetic sedimentary from Meso- Neoproterozoic basins located along the margin of the Congo Craton. I combine methods of sedimentology (litho- and micro-facies analysis of carbonate and siliciclastic rocks) and stratigraphy (sequence stratigraphy) with geochemical tools (geochemistry of major, trace and REE, radiogenic and stable isotopes) and dating (LA-ICP-MS on zircon detrital, 40Ar-39Ar dating) to understand the evolution of syn-and post-sedimentary foreland basins from West Congolian Belt and intracratonic rift-failed basin of Sankuru-Bushimay-Lomami-Lovoy located in the central part of Congo River Basin (or Congo Cuvette). I also worked on the characterization of petroleum potential (RockEval pyrolysis) and burial conditions (fluid inclusion thermometry) of these Neoproterozoic sedimentary sequences.

Many trips (France, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Democratic Republic of Congo, Namibia) have allowed me to investigate presumed glacigenic series with Sturtian (750 Ma), Marinoan (635 Ma) and Gaskier (580 Ma) ages, combining microscopic studies, to characterize the microstructures, and geochemistry.

The collaborative nature of our department allows us to work closely with other researchers in various other fields, including the works on the sedimentary and diagenetic conditions of the Pre-Karoo to Mesozoic sedimentary rocks from Congo River Basin (or Congo Cuvette), geochemistry of radiogenic and stable isotopes (University of Erlangen), geochronology (Natural Museum of Dresden), the micropalaeontolongy and biomarkers (University of Canberra), as well as close collaboration with research centers such as the Royal Museum for Central Africa (Belgium) and the Centre de Recherche Géologicque et Minière (Democratic Republic of Congo).
